Why Dressing to Impress Should Be an Everyday Thing
Valentine’s Day is this week, which means a lot of guys are going to be going all-out with their style choices for what is arguably the most important Date Night of the year. This seems to be a pattern – we dress up for holidays, special events, or the occasional job interview… and that’s pretty much it. But what about the rest of the time? Here are some great reasons to start making style a part of your daily ritual.
It doesn’t take as much effort as you think. Does the thought of dressing well all the time sound exhausting? Believe it or not, it doesn’t mean you have to be in a three-piece suit 24/7, and in fact a great wardrobe gives you a lot of different options to choose from, from formal to casual. If you think about it, putting on a beautifully tailored shirt is no more difficult than putting on a poorly-made one, so if you have to get dressed every day anyway, you may as well make it count!
It feels physically great to look good all the time. The idea that dressing well means being uncomfortable is completely false. Quality fabrics actually feel better against the skin, and if your clothes fit properly, you’ll be able to wear them comfortably all day. Once you start getting in the swing of dressing well all the time, it quickly becomes a good habit that you don’t even have to think about.
It feels mentally great to look good all the time. You know that embarrassing feeling when you show up for a special occasion looking much better than you normally do, and everyone makes a big deal about it? A lot of guys will avoid dressing well because they think it makes them feel awkward, when in fact the reason they feel awkward is because they’re only dressing well every once in a while, and it’s unfamiliar territory for everyone involved. Once you start dressing well on a regular basis, people will just know you as the guy who always looks fantastic, and that’s a much better feeling than only looking good three or four times a year.
You just never know. We’ve all had it happen before – you throw on a stained t-shirt with old shorts and flip-flops to go run some errands, so of course that’s the day you run into your boss, your ex, or a business contact you’ve been trying to impress for months. Sure, it’s unlucky, but luck happens when preparation meets opportunity. You never know when those opportune moments are going to jump out and surprise you, but it’s never a problem if you’re always prepared and looking your best.
By all means, come in to see us for your Valentine’s Day outfit, but don’t forget all the other days! There are some great spring and summer selections coming through right now, so it’s a perfect time to start getting your wardrobe in order.
