In our last post we talked about our mission to get gentleman to clean out their closets so as to upgrade their look. After eighteen years, we know we have transformed the closets of many of our clients, but there is still work to be done!
The beauty of the Trade-In Event is that you are also simultaneously helping others. This year, for the third year, we have partnered with Goodwill of Greater Washington to support their mission to transform lives and communities through the power of education and employment.
Those clothes in your closet that don’t fit or you just never wear? They will be donated to Goodwill, where they will be sold to gentlemen who are in need of work attire as they complete job training programs and find employment. Now, instead of languishing in the back of your closet, these clothes are truly put to good use.
The proceeds from the sale of these items in the Goodwill stores goes right back into Goodwill’s job training programs. AND we donate 5% of the proceeds from of the sales to Goodwill, to further support their work.
Over the past three years, we have been fortunate enough to get to know a great deal about these programs and meet many of the participants. We have attended job training graduation ceremonies and heard the personal stories of graduates. In 2013, the Workforce Development Division served more than 6,000 people, placing almost 200 in new jobs.
We were also present at the recent Fashion of Goodwill Runway show at the new Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC, where we saw over 50 Goodwill trained and placed Marriott employees take the stage in a moving ceremony.
It is a cliche to say something is win-win. But our Trade In Event is truly a just that- the perfect chance for you to clean out your closet and upgrade your look, while putting those garments to good use while supporting workforce development.
