Thank You for Making the Trade-In Event a Success!
After so many years of the Trade-In Event (this was the 17th!), I always ask myself if we can keep it going, or if it is time to retire one of our marque events. But every year, our customers embrace this event and make it a huge success!
This year was no different. We had dozens and dozens of items donated, all of which were put to good use in Goodwill’s local retail stores or their online shop. These garments provide options for gentlemen that need professional attire, with the proceeds from the sale of these items going right back to support Goodwill’s mission to transform lives and communities through the power of education and employment.
Last week we attended a job training Graduation ceremony, where I spoke about the “Business of Style”. We also learned more about the job training program- the long hours, the homework, the certifications received, and skills gained. Graduation attendees also heard a testimonial from one graduate, who left the workforce due to divorce and her mother’s battle with cancer. This mother of three completed the security program and hopes to go into criminal justice.
Several program graduates already had job offers, others had calls and interviews lined up as a result of the training program.
Last but not least, are also thrilled to announce the donation amount given to Goodwill of Greater Washington… $10,000! We donated a total of $16,500, combining the
proceeds of the Trade In Event with last spring’s Investment Sale SmarTrip card program. We believe strongly in their work to empower people with the skills they need to
change their lives. Thank you for making this such a special and successful event- once again!
