How to Relax in Style on Vacation
Summer vacation season is finally here! The whole point of going on vacation is to chill out and have a good time, but the travel itself can be complicated if you care about your appearance and you want to bring some nice clothes with you. It helps to know what to take and how to get it all to your destination; here are a few things to remember that will help you simplify the process and make it less stressful.
The packing itself is key. Getting the packing process right can be tricky, because unlike with business travel, when you’re on vacation you’re probably going to be bringing things home like souvenirs and gifts for friends and family. So on one hand, you want to leave some room in your suitcase for these extra items, but in order for your clothes to look their best, you want to pack them tightly so as to minimize their movement in the suitcase. This is where an expandable suitcase is a great idea – you can leave the expander zipped up for your outward travel, holding your clothes in place, and then open it on your way home if you need to accommodate any items you bought.
A nice pair of jeans can go a long way. A quality pair of jeans can be paired with so many things – t-shirts, polos, a buttoned shirt, you name it. Packing the right pair of jeans can help you drastically cut down on the number of other pants you’re going to need. For extra versatility, bring a pair of knee-length jean shorts, as well, for those days when it’s just too hot to wear long pants.
Carefree doesn’t mean careless. If you always try to look your best on a day-to-day basis, the thought of going casual every day for a couple of weeks may feel a bit… sloppy. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. There are a lot of informal options that are both comfortable and stylish, so have some fun shopping for great-looking short-sleeved shirts, summer shoes, and seasonal accessories.
Summer fabrics make a difference. When the weather gets hot, it’s time to start looking at lighter, more breathable fabrics. You can choose your own fabric for a custom polo that will fit you perfectly while keeping you cool. A big bonus is that most summer fabrics don’t need ironing – you can just hang them in the bathroom when you shower and let the steam do the rest.
Be prepared for a night out. Chances are, you’re going to want to have at least one dinner at a restaurant where the dress code isn’t shorts or jeans, so you do need to be prepared for that, but how do you dress up without being uncomfortably hot? Again, here’s where the right fabrics come to the rescue. Tropical weave is probably your best choice; Dormeuil makes a superior tropical weave cloth for a suit that looks sharp while still being appropriate for the weather.
Remember, when you’re on vacation there’s no reason you can’t be comfortable, casual, and stylish all at the same time. Enjoy your trip!
