How to Have a Healthy Wardrobe Attitude
It’s the beginning of the year, and already a lot of people are moving forward on resolutions to elevate their style. While this is a great goal to have, quality clothing is an investment, so you want to make sure you’re building your wardrobe in a way that will see you through for the long haul. Here’s how to have a productive attitude toward assembling your new wardrobe.
Do get excited about the upcoming seasons. One great thing about the world of style is that you get to see what’s coming up weeks or sometimes even months before the season actually arrives. This means you can start getting some great ideas about the kinds of outfits you’d like to put together, which means you’ll be prepared when the time comes instead of just buying random items on a whim. You can also take some time to consider the difference between fashion and style, and make some calculated choices about where your purchases will fit into your overall wardrobe.
On the other hand, don’t forget to live in the moment. Sure, spring and summer are coming, but we still have a few weeks of winter left, and there’s a lot of style to be had! You can still get the perfect winter jacket, beautiful sweaters and shirts, or some accessories to round out your cold-weather outfits. And of course as the season winds down, you may even be able to pick up a couple of on-sale items that will be great to wear when the fall and winter come around again.
Do start to plan things to look forward to. Do you have a big vacation coming up this summer? Will you be attending any weddings in the spring? Are there some important business conferences on the calendar? These are all things you’re going to need clothes for, and it’s never too early to start thinking about what you’re going to wear for those special occasions. The better prepared you are, the better you’ll look, and the more confident you’ll feel!
On the other hand, don’t plan on being something you’re not. With dreams of the “perfect summer body” just over the horizon, it can be very tempting to buy clothes in the size you wish you were, as a a motivator to lose a lot of weight by the time the summer comes. This is a really bad idea, and almost certainly a waste of money. Even if you do manage to lose some weight over the next few months, trying to guess exactly what size you’ll be at any given point in the future is impossible. Instead, buy clothes that fit you correctly now – that way you can look great no matter what, right away, and if you do end up losing the weight, it’s a lot easier to tailor things down than it is to try to make small clothes bigger. You’ll never regret having a closet full of clothes that actually fit!
With all the great fabrics and colors that are coming up this spring, it’s a very exciting time to be getting into the style game. So if you’re starting to put a new wardrobe together, don’t hesitate to ask for some pointers to help you look your best!
