After this particularly tough winter, I think we are all especially looking forward to spring this year! As new spring items are arriving daily in my store, we are eagerly getting these items ready and displayed, relishing the change of seasons.
The bright spring colors we’re seeing remind us warmer and brighter days will soon be here. Using pops of color is still a big trend this year- including berry, aquamarine and bronze. We’re particularly seeing stunning new tie designs with the perfect use of spring colors. Customers are loving the new spring ties from Zegna, my own David’s Master Collection, and Italo Ferretti.
Bright color accents can also be found in pocket squares, socks, and even used in subtle ways in the patterns on dress shirts. Don’t be afraid of these colors, a little bit goes a long way, and makes you look pulled together and contemporary.
The second big thing we’re excited about for spring mens clothing is transitional suits. The Italian men’s designers dominated the scene this year, and are likely to do so for a long time to come, thanks to their suits made with amazing new fabrics.
These new fabrics engineered by design departments of Italian greats including Canali, Zegna, Armani and Pal Zaleri, allow their suits to go from power casual to dressy to formal.
With intricate looming and color blends that go beyond the typical grey and black, these transitional fabrics are a great investment. They don’t feature the typical uneventful finish and texture, but instead have beautiful and soft fluid lines that you can dress up or down not only this spring but for years to come.
Our philosophy when it comes to new trends is to pick and choose elements that will keep you looking up to date while but not so trendy that your clothes will quickly go out of style. Our advice for spring is to use color and update your suits with these new fabrics to make smart choices and stand apart from the crowd.
